PortFoooolio.

As of this week I am revamping my whole portfolio including a new on line one which can be seen at this link. So most of my old work is in the process of being edited to bring it a little more up to date and also because I am slightly sick of seeing it the same old way, so a little editing here and there and CAPOOOOOW!! Done!

Keep checking back for more projects which are to be uploaded in the next couple of days & also alongside that I am beginning a new project which I will post about some time soon but all I will say is that it involves a whole lot of bling!….. I really cant get away with saying bling can I?…..

BACK!!

february-winter2Soooo, thought I’d update otherwise my page would be saying “happy 2009 bloggers” for the rest of the year and we are already into February which to me is preeeeetty scary.

So the snows been this last week and gone all in the same day and its now falling again as I type this post, but I don’t think I’ll have any worries of being snowed in unlike our Kim who’s been bravely adventuring outside of her moorside cottage and finding random igloos and reading the moomins & of course producing lots of lovely work.  So at the minute I’ve been experimenting with a lot of cut work all due to not having adobe suite the last couple of weeks but its all good and now I have it back I can start experimenting with the both (cut work & illustrator/photoshop) and seeing what I can come up with

Now back to seeing whether my career really did burn away in Kim’s kitchen stove …???….

Carl Anthony Liddle BA Hons…

YES!!!…. That’s right, Thursday was graduation day for Teesside university/CCAD students and it was quite a bizarre day, but we all looked well dapper in our cap and gowns I have to say. It was nice to see some old face, well it’s only been 4 months since seeing them but it really does feel so much longer than that. They wasn’t really much talk about design jobs but I’m sure we are all still hunting for them which appears very far away at this moment in time, but I remain positive even when you hear absolutely nothing from any of the many jobs I have applied for so far, but its still early days I guess….. Also I want to congratulate Kim for selling her 1st collection of work in the US this last week so woooooooo!! Good on ya Kim :]

Right I’m back to the job hunting and more importantly my cup of tea.

P.S. Heres a few sites that I’ve been enjoying lately,

>>> The Cool Hunter . Serial Cut . In Black We Trust . Julien Vallée & Emil Kozak <<<

Enjoy.

guess what…

I guess an update is well over-due and that don’t mean to say that I’ve been as busy as I should have been in the space of the last post, but I have been making the effort to get out and do some more gallery visits like I made a promise I would do as I was slacking a little..

Sooo on Monday 20th me and Kym went to quite an interesting talk at Dance City in Newcastle by Ali McAuley and Paul Simmons who are more famously known as design duo Timorous Beasties, and it was nice to know the ins and outs of how they struggled to get their name out into the industry in the early 90’s and how they have become to establish their business to what it is today.timorous_beasties_decouper31 Also I finally got myself to the Baltic Centre to see some amazing work and installments by Yoshitomo Nara and Graf which is a part of their on going A to Z project which Nara has been developing since 2003. Also showing at the Baltic was quite a bizarre (and dangerous) installment by Steve McQueen which you are advised to allow your eyes to adjust to complete darkness before walking round his work or else you’ll end up walking into mirrored walls like myself and as I prevented Kym from doing also.

Anyways its back to job hunting for me and just I was about to send CV’s out to a few companies by the good old post my printer decided to run out of black ink on me, so while I wait for ink to arrive I guess I better keep hunting for more places to send my CV out to.

So lately I’ve been thinking about new projects to be working on and without the resourses of CCAD magazines for inspiration I’ve been clicking my way round the interweb and have been feasting my eyes on some very good finds. FormFiftyFive, Kiosk, Peter&Wendy, Chris Bolton, +41, Apeloig, Bardhi Haliti, Maxime Delporte, InHouse Design.

Mary Emma Hawthorne

So I received an email from one of my good little finds I made back in June 2006, it was an e-mail from Mary Emma Hawthorne an amazing artist from Texas. She e-mailed to inform all her subscribers that she had created a brand spanking new website with a whole new collection of work. It really is worth a look especially her older stuff as well as the new stuff, they really does seem to be something really delicate and amazing about her work which I can not help but look at over and over again.untitled-13untitled-32untitled-42untitled-22I remember back in 2006 when discovering her work by pure luck I e-mailed her just to complement her work and basically let her know what I thought about everything that she had posted on her website at the time and I actually received a reply thanking me for all the complements. So yeah, just thought I’d share that with you because I thought it was nice of her to take the time out and reply to this quite frankly random e-mail from me, so thank you Mary ;]

also I came across another blogger who also featured Mary’s work and who used the phrase “if you cant see the beuty in Mary’s bird boxes then you are probably quite angry and sick of life” I dont know but I kind of liked it, or am I the only one?!
